Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle WA

Climate Pledge Arena is the newest stadium for the National Hockey League.  The venue has some of the NHL’s most technologically advanced game presentations.  TBC worked with Diversified Systems on the “crown jewel” of the Arena, a production-control room based on 1080p 60-fps workflows.  We provided consoles to house the Ross Acuity 3M/E switcher and Evertz gear.  Working on the project in the midst of the pandemic had challenges but TBC is pleased to have been a part of the control room planning which went on very successfully.

TBC Provides Technical Furniture for Colorado Rockies Renovation

TBC Provides Technical Furniture for Colorado Rockies Production Control Room Renovation

Colorado RockiesWorking with Diversified Systems, TBC has provided the technical furniture for the Colorado Rockies renovation of their Production Control Room.  In celebration of the team’s 25th anniversary, the Colorado Rockies set out to renovate Coors Field from the club level all the way to the clubhouse.

Included in these renovations is the first 1080p60 HDR LED videoboard and HDR-capable upgraded production control room installed in a sports venue.  The PCR is the culmination of an 18-month engagement with Diversified which considered consoles, ADA access, raised flooring, acoustics, and electrical.  Coors Field’s revamped control room is built around a Ross Video Acuity switcher and Evertz EQX10-FR video router (180×180). Diversified also upgraded the room’s two existing Evertz DreamCatcher replay systems to 10-bit for incorporation into the HDR workflow.  In addition to the upgraded production control room equipment, TBC worked with Diversified and the Rockies to support full acquisition, editorial and archival management with upgraded HDR Evertz DreamCatcher replay systems and AVID Nexis/Interplay with NL Tech AutoIngest to manage all graphical content, control protocol and KVM for associated systems in the broadcast production control room.

Before any technology integration began, TBC worked with Diversified to determine control room orientation, console and ADA ramp locations, raised flooring, cooling, power and electrical conveyance requirements; ASHRAE class recommendations for cooling systems, fire and life safety recommendations for the space and interconnections to other stadium systems; as well as acoustic NC ratings, NRC ratings, and STC ratings with wall construction, ceiling, and partition recommendations.

The Rockies game-day production team also transitioned the graphics operation to Ross Xpression character generators, resulting in not only HDR-capable content but also a streamlined workflow.

“The workflow has changed dramatically,” notes Kent Krosbakken, senior director, in-game entertainment and broadcasting, Coors Field.  “The biggest change came in the way that we deliver our content to each of our boards in the ballpark. We are now using Ross Xpression to drive content to the boards. With this technology, our prep time has decreased immensely.”
