Which SmartTrac Console Fits My Needs?
Workstation
Console
SmartTrac work surfaces are classified into four standard shapes; workstations, consoles, client tables, and rectangular. Custom shapes are also often used to meet client’s functional and aesthetic requirements. The “console” version is meant to accommodate rack modules (turrets) or infills with a full cable core. The “workstation” version features an uninterrupted workstation with simple grommets and the option of a full or mini-cable core. Workstations and consoles in standard sizes and shapes have shorter manufacturing lead times and typically are more budget friendly.
Size and shape of the countertop will indicate which base model SmartTrac is appropriate. Sizes available range from 1 – 4. These sizes correspond to the ability of the furniture to accept standard rack-bay equipment. For example, and ST2 is capable of comfortably supporting two “rack turrets” which accommodate standard size rack mounted equipment and are approximately 21” (533.4mm) wide.

The amount of wires and the presence or absence of rack-mounted equipment above the counter top will indicate what type of cable management “core” is required. SmartTrac Consoles come with standard, mini cable, or custom cable management core.

SmartTrac models can be made at standard fixed height (countertop at 28 5/8” from floor), custom height (including standing height), or height-adjustable with an electric base and weight capacity of over 325 lbs (147 kg) after factoring out the countertop weight.
SmartTracs built with a “console-style” worksurface and full cable core are capable of accepting turrets to mount rack equipment above the countertop.

Preconfigured
Originally designed as video editing AVID workstations for the broadcast market, TBC’s SmartTrac Console Systems have achieved extraordinary popularity due to their world class ergonomics, quality all aluminum construction and good looks in nearly every industry. Unique to this class of console, SmartTrac’s removable turrets, rear device ‘Trac’ and generous cable core with integral power management combine with optional height adjustability for any application that requires a sit stand desk. Each console can be accessorized to personal preference with a variety of articulating monitor arms, CPU holders, speaker mounts, task lamps, and other accessories.
Audio and Podcast
TBC’s radio and podcast furniture concepts are an adaptation of our SmartTrac technical furniture line. These concepts integrate typical modifications and accessories required for a radio/audio environment into our SmartTrac integrated broadcast console furniture system. In line with the rest of our broadcast furniture product line, removable turrets are optional with rack rail, a rear device ‘Trac’ allows for microphones, monitor arms, speakers, tablet, or other accessories to be mounted and adjusted without tools. Cable management core allows for wire separation, data, and power management. The radio and podcast furniture consoles are all able to accept a variety of microphone or monitor arms into the trac or directly mounted into the surface.
Linked and Custom
SmartTrac technical furniture provides an ability to gang individual workstation components to form complete console systems. Originally developed for broadcast control rooms, these configurations have been in a variety of other industries to develop entire Network Operation Centers, Security Operation Center, or other Mission Critical Control Room environments where there is less equipment or co-located equipment in server rooms with no need for a standard “full body” console systems.

Custom technical furniture consoles with features such as rack or computer cabinets instead of traditional aluminum legs, and optional full or mini cable cores.

The new TBC furniture which was arrived expertly packaged on one pallet. Everything went together perfectly and I could see the teeny tiny factory test assembly marks that shows me someone actually cared.
It all looks great in our room and everyone smiles ear to ear when looking and feeling the surfaces and trying out the host console height adjustment. The mike booms look spectacular with a vertically-stacked monitor and the Genelec monitor mounts.

The more I use this desk, the more I love it. I recorded myself playing some guitar standing up last night, and it was really great for my workflow not to have to sit down and stand back up to interact with the computer.
