Black Rock Mine Operation, South Africa

TBC continues its collaboration with longstanding partners Oculus and VuWall for an outstanding project for Black Rock Mine Operation, located in the Northern Cape region of South Africa.

The facility utilizes our longest continuous SmartTrac operator consoles and the largest SDVoE AV-over-IP video wall installation in an industrial setting to date.

Black Rock Mine Operations (BRMO) is a major manganese and iron ore mine operating in the Kalahari Desert. With three separate shafts producing 3.6 million tons of ore annually, BRMO faced challenges due to decentralized operations. To address this, BRMO collaborated with Jaco van Heerden and Oculus Operational Innovations to create the Integrated Remote Operations Centre (iRoc), a centralized control room solution.

iRoc, featuring a horseshoe-shaped videowall with 21 operator stations, utilizes 84 49-inch Prospectre screens for the main display and 84 24-inch screens for individual operator displays. Powered by VuWall’s TRx central management platform, the system integrates AV-over-IP distribution, multivideo wall control, and KVM management. The implementation of iRoc, along with VuStream 510 appliances, has significantly improved BRMO’s operational efficiency. Centralizing operations provided a comprehensive view of the entire value chain, enabling proactive decision-making.

TBC selected for Northeast Water Purification Plant in Houston, TX

TBC is selected as the furniture vendor to provide a number of linked SmartTrac Consoles for the utilities control room at Houston’s expanded Northeast Water Purification Plant (NEWPP).

The City of Houston in association with four regional water authorities is expanding the capacity of its water purification plant from 80 million gallons per day (mgd) to 400 million by 2024.  As part of the expansion, the Houston Waterworks Team – a joint venture between CDM Smith and Jacobs Engineering – is designing and constructing the new raw water facility, including intake, pumping and conveyance to withdraw raw water from Lake Houston and deliver it about 1.5 miles away to the expanded NEWPP.

The consoles will be the center point for monitoring this new plant with ergonomic and well thought out design specifications met by TBC Consoles.

Control Room Consoles

TBC Console

P&G Plant in Cincinnati, OH

TBC has finalized a console installation at Proctor & Gamble headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio.  This project uses our new C3-style console with height-adjustable independent units and environmental controls for personal cooling, heating and lighting incorporated into each unit.

The Control Room required three independently adjustable units as well as a fixed height L-shaped console, as well as peripheral cabinets for printers and file cabinets.  This new design replaces their old console system which was not able to adapt to the plant’s current needs.  We were privileged to work with the RCF Group on this project.
